As people who care about change, we have a responsibility to find points of intervention in our everyday lives. How do you confront systemic oppression at home, in your organization, in your community? What small, mighty actions can you take daily to move us closer to each other and the new world? Every small interaction holds the possibility of transformation.
Foundations, as part of the non-profit industrial complex, replicate the logic of oppressive systems. Philanthropy reinforces dependency on outside funding, refuses leadership from frontline communities, and lacks an understanding of the historical exploitation necessary to amass the financial resources we are redistributing.
Resist believes it is necessary to organize philanthropy in ways that move toward more restorative and transformational ways of funding. We do this by speaking on panels, and boards, attending conferences, supporting building out frameworks for foundations to engage. To learn more about how to move away from extractive practices in philanthropy, and toward more restorative and transformational practices, please review our resources page.
