OUR MISSION

Resist is a foundation that supports people’s movements for justice and liberation. We redistribute resources back to frontline communities at the forefront of change while amplifying their stories of building a better world.

Resist has always been a different type of foundation.

In 1967, Resist emerged out of the resistance to the Vietnam War and evolved to support the visionary frontline groups that are resisting, re-imagining, and transforming their communities for a more just and liberated world.

Our Founding Members

Alongside Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn, Resist’s founders put out the “Call to Resist Illegitimate Authority”.  Signed by over 20,000 people, the Call mobilized activists and academics across the country and set the tone for our mission as a foundation.

Our Activism

As grassroots activism exploded across the country, Resist evolved and supported radical visionary activists from coast to coast.

Today, we resource and amplify the work of grassroots movements fighting capitalism, white supremacy, and colonialism.

Our Grant-Making

Throughout this history, Resist has provided critical early funding to some of the most influential progressive organizations in the U.S.
