A better choice for the election...

You can Panic About the Election, Or you can TAKE ACTION NOW!

Building grassroots power takes money. That’s why Resist is taking the bold step of  increasing our grant awards to meet the moment.  Can we count on you to help? Our goal is $200,000 to fund 20 courageous organizations by August 31. With the elections looming, we must take action now!

Dear Resister,

We’re in the midst of yet another election cycle. The media, political pundits, and candidates all tell us it’s time to panic. They say that this is our last chance at saving democracy. It’s “us” versus “them.”

But those who are articulating a truly valiant vision for the future — and working to make it happen — aren’t politicians. They’re the activists and visionaries you support through your donations to Resist.

To give our grantees the power to turn visions of liberation and justice into meaningful change, Resist has increased our no-strings-attached grants to $10,000 — that’s up from $4,000 per grant previously.

Now is the time for bold action. Will you join us? Help raise $200,000 by August 31st to continue building grassroots power and deepen their impact.

Every one of our grantees has a budget of less than $150,000, so these larger grants will be transformative. As Harris and Trump suck up all the oxygen, small, revolutionary organizations struggle to get their message out and fund their important work.

" I sit in awe of all we have accomplished. Parents  walk through our doors with  a renewed sense of safety. Clients that feel valued and  cared for. A team that sees Black people as worthy of  tender care that honors their humanity." — Cessilye R. Smith,  Founder & CEO, Abide

As states continue to push for total bans on abortions, our grantees are ensuring birthing people receive the lifesaving care they need. Your generous donation will help fund organizations like Abide Women’s Health Services in South Dallas, which brings professional, affordable, and accessible health services to communities of color.

They offer free educational classes and supplies to women and their families in childbirth, lactation, and newborn and childcare. Last year, Abide provided 488 prenatal and postpartum appointments — more than it ever has before — delivering inclusive and compassionate care to birthing people and their babies.

With your help — and a Resist grant — Abide will be able expand its reach with new classes, such as fertility awareness for teens and young women. Abide makes it clear that, regardless of who our president is, achieving reproductive justice is a constant struggle. Our grassroots grantees are in the best position to defend that right.

In this election cycle, we will hear a lot about bodily autonomy and healthcare. But with Big Pharma and the insurance industry giving money to both parties, can we really expect universal healthcare — or any meaningful change?

What folks are saying about Grantee QTP:

"Queer Trans Project blessed me with a paid round-trip flight for my surgery! This saved my life tremendously! Words cannot explain how blessed I am to have them help me! Thank you so much." – Lamarcus
"This funding will help me have access to the lifesaving and gender-affirm medication that I am in need of." — A.A.

Another grantee standing up for our rights and freedoms despite an onslaught of restrictions is The Queer Trans Project in Jacksonville, Florida. While elected officials in the state have made it illegal for teachers to even talk about LGBTQ+ history, this Black- and trans-led organization provides essential supplies and assistance to combat dysphoria and let LGBTQ+ people live  authentically — regardless of who’s in office.

Manifesting change and justice will take time — and your continued support.

As a Resister, you already know that voting in elections is only the floor of political action. Sometimes, we need to take to the streets in protest. We continue to be inspired by National Students for Justice in Palestine. This Resist grantee is becoming better organized, helping to spark student encapments across the country (and the world) that stand up against universities that support genocide. As we go into the fall semester, funding organizations like this is crucial to maintain the momentum of their movement.

Let me be clear: the two-party system has collapsed into one. Democrats and Republicans alike have failed to provide us true representation, equity, and justice. That’s why increasing the size of our funding awards is so important — so Resist grantees can continue fighting for a better world no matter who the president is.

Please — even while election rhetoric rages around us — take a stand now. We are looking to award 20 grants of $10,000 each by August 31. These organizations are our boots on the ground and are standing up for our rights.

We’re counting on you. To resisting together,

Kathy Lebrón

Resist, Co-director

P.S. In the last four years, we have witnessed the loss of our reproductive freedoms, a stalled universal healthcare movement, a hyper-militarized border, and billions of dollars sent to fuel the Israeli war machine. Harris and the Democrats may be the lesser of two evils, but they will not save us. Liberation and justice will only come from the grassroots movements.

This moment demands our attention and every possible tactic that we have at our disposal.

Movements for justice don't just need resources, they need you. Our Palestine Solidarity Giving Guide is here to connect you with Resist grantees, solidarity groups, and families directly impacted in Gaza trying to evacuate to safety. Download the guide today, share it widely with your community, and consider getting involved, because it's going to take all of us to change the world for the better.
