Dear Resister,
When Kamala Harris announced that she was running for president, her campaign raised a historic $81 million in 24 hours. By Election Day, candidates, parties, PACs, and outside forces will have spent more than $10 billion.
Meanwhile, our courageous grassroots grantees forgo paying themselves to reach one more person in their community. It is simply not sustainable and is utterly unjust.
No matter where you are philosophically and politically on the left, I hope we agree there is too much money in politics for too little change.
Together, we have the power to make a real, life-altering difference.
As you know, every one of our grantees has a budget of less than $150,000 — that’s .0015% of what will be spent on the 2024 election. So, when we tell you that your donation of $10, $25, or $50 matters — we mean it!
In our last email, we announced that for the first time in over a decade, we increased our General Support funding from $4,000 to $10,000 per grant. This change will help sustain frontline movements and deepen their impact for good.
Increased grant sizes — and your donation — will be crucial for BAYAN USA, an anti-imperialist alliance that educates, organizes, and mobilizes Filipino workers and migrants for their rights and welfare. Founded in 2005, BAYAN has grown to 28 member organizations and mobilized successful campaigns for laborers seeking to organize, political prisoners unfairly detained, and more.
Central to BAYAN’s work is an end to the American militarization and imperial violence
in the Philippines, and globally. This year, the U.S. and 29 other countries brought 42 warships, 4 submarines, accompanying aircraft, and more than 25,000 personnel to rehearse death and destruction through so-called war games. Live missile fire and ground assaults caused immediate destruction, while chemical pollution released by military vessels poisoned the air, land, and water for generations to come.
BAYAN fights to end these unjust practices — facilitated by the United States — that harm the Philippines. Their struggle will take intensive organizing, time — and generous donors like you.
The funds we move to ATCF, BAYAN USA, and other frontline groups are only possible because of your generosity. While Americans focus on the election, grantees with limited resources work tirelessly — no matter who is in office. Please extend your support today for our brave grantees moving us toward liberation for all.
To resisting together,
Avry Jackson
