Calling all Movement Photographers!
A picture is worth a thousand words, and here at Resist, we want to see what you’re saying!
Photographers are an integral part of the movement for justice and liberation, you make the movement irresistible and uplift marginalized communities through visually compelling photos. Resist is looking for photographers who want to tell the story of the resistance through their lens by highlighting communities who:
- Resist: organize, base build, engage in direct action and cultural organizing.
- Re-imagine: actively build new systems that provide alternatives to the ones we're fighting now.
- Build Resilience: create through arts, cultural, and/or healing work and all forms of creative resilience building.
Photographs can include (but are not limited to) frontline folks in protest, organizing a rally, doing arts/creative work with their communities, partaking in healing rituals, being in community with one another - the possibilities are endless.
TIMELINE
- April 24th, 2019: The contest opens for entries.
- May 6th, 2019: Contest will close and we will no longer accept entries after this day.
- May 10th, 2019: Resist will announce winners.
- May 24th, 2019: Payout date for winners.
REWARD
The Resist community will pick two winners who will each receive $250. Their photographs will be used and credited in materials seen by over 7,000 people.
ELIGIBILITY
Photographer must identify as someone most directly impacted by systemic oppression.
