Dear Resisters,
We're excited to welcome a new member of our staff collective, Kathy Lebrón. Learn more about Kathy below.
Hi, I'm Kathy! I'm thrilled to join Resist as the new Director of Communications and Storytelling. Prior to Resist, I worked as a radical, anti-racist and culturally responsive maestra in NYC for over six years. Having been born and raised in Boston, I decided it was time to return to my roots and be in community with folx here who are in the fight for justice and liberation. At Resist, I'm committed to amplifying the work of diasporic communities and folx who are most impacted by structural inequities, while making communications more transparent, accessible and engaging for said communities. I love dancing, traveling to new places, and building with dope people of color in the movement for justice. I 'm excited to connect, build with, learn from, and be empowered by all of you.

Three Questions With Kathy:
1. What was your moment of consciousness/awakening?
I have had several moments of consciousness throughout my life. The first I can recall was when I was about 8 years old when my mother asked me to clean the kitchen and I refused. I expressed how "unfair" it was that only the women in our family were expected to cook and clean. If you know Dominican mothers, then you understand why this was a big deal and a little scary.
2. If you could have lunch with one movement leader alive or dead, who would it be?
I would have to say Angela Davis because I'm inspired by her work on transnational solidarity and justice.
3. What would be three songs that best represent you?
Ououou, that's tricky. I'm not sure about songs that represent me. Here are songs that speak to different parts of me right now: "Juicy" by The Notorious B.I.G, "I Do" by Cardi B. and Sza and "Solamente Tu" by Pablo Alboran.
For justice and liberation,
Jax
